... Come to think of it why hasn't Cain (he killed the Able after all) here taken up space travel or something? a change of scenery is a nice thing every now and then.

Not to mention not being able to die might be a local planet thing. Immortality is weird and inconsistent.
Matt Knab
You know, I don't think he's considered checking to see if his curse lifts off-planet. Mostly he's afraid a trip to space would be a one way trip to a frozen or fiery hell from which he'd never escape.
Xylas_Incarnum
pretty sure he'd go in and out of consciousness, or a coma eventually if he's afraid of that.

Immortal baby's afraid of a few centuries of endless torment. No wonder he's never found a way to off himself other than this vague possibility yet.
Tried a one way trip to the sun? That usually does the trick.
Matt Knab
He actually considered it, but after the nuclear explosion failed, he was quite terrified that he wouldn't die, but be in a state of constant, unimaginable agony.
Xylas_Incarnum
The suicidal Immortal man's afraid of the pain caused by his flesh being constantly melted as it regenerates? wuss.

Well, that's assuming his flesh isn't completely burned off his bones... Hmmm wait, most things still need their heart and brain to stay in a somewhat alive state.

Summed up well. I like his detailed, poetic explanations but sometimes the short summary makes things that much more poignant.
Matt Knab
I thought a summary would be useful with the slow pace of webcomic pages. :)

This is why killing Cain would be a bad idea:

"And Cain said to the Lord, 'My punishment is too great to bear. Now that You have driven me this day from the soil I must hide from Your presence, I shall be a restless wanderer on the earth and whoever finds me will kill me.' And the Lord said to him, 'herefore whoever kills Cain shall suffer sevenfold vengeance.'And the Lord set a mark upon Cain so that whoever found him would not slay him."
-- Genesis 4:14-15

YES! It was that passage exactly that started my idea for Nolan as well as the "retribution" aura/curse that he and Alice both have.
